Tooth Fairy- Redemption Not Likely

Madelyn lost another tooth tonight, her second one so far. I guess I shouldn't say she lost it, Kenny pulled it out after an hour of drama on Madelyn's part. Anywho.... she proudly placed the tooth in her tooth fairy pillow. She then asked me "Momma, does the tooth fairy work on Monday night?" For those of you who don't recall, read my November 17, 2008 post or click here then here to read the full story. This post will then completely make sense and more than likely your opinion of Kenny and I as parents will be diminished. Kenny and I are officially the worst tooth fairies ever. Who knew that the Tooth Fairy occupation could be so complex and evidently challenging.

I told Madelyn "Yes, she works on Monday nights." As usual, I don't have any cash... and again I will raid my children's piggy bank. Does it get any lower than this? Who am I? I'm ashamed.. I have to go now (with what little dignity I have left), tip toe into the girls room, remove the bank, come back into the living room and shamelessly remove a dollar. Tomorrow my shame will be renewed when Madelyn in all her excitement runs to show Kenny and I what the tooth fairy left her then makes a B line to her room to place the stolen money in her piggy bank.

Ok, so I guess this is "Mother of the Year Moment" 10, 003

I don't know... I blame Madie... can't she at least warn you like say 2 days ahead of time that she plans to loose a tooth so that the tooth fairy could go to the ATM, as if the tooth fairy isn't already super busy, especially this time of year... with the economy the way it is she's had to spend time moonlighting as the easter bunny!

This is an email that I got from my sister Julie- too funny

I have trumped you on the Worst Tooth Fairy Ever! I have to blame it on the fact that it has been so long since Stacia lost a tooth that we just got "rusty"! Much like Madelyn's ordeal, it was very dramatic for about an hour and Stacia refused to go to bed until the tooth came out. Finally, I got some dental floss, wrapped it around her tooth, counted to 3 and Yanked! She cried profusely for about 20 minutes after that…DRAMA QUEEN!

We then placed her tooth in a ziploc bag and she asked me which pillow would be better to place it under that would be more convenient for the tooth fairy (she has 3 pillows). I gave her my authoritive advice on which pillow would be easier for the "tooth fairy" to get to (me…of course); then we said our bedtime prayers and went to bed. I woke Stacey and told him that one of us would have to go down stairs and get some cash out of my purse before waking Stacia in the morning. This is where the Worst Tooth Fair Every comes into play. I go in about 6:30 to wake Stacia and first thing she lifts her pillow and there sits her ziploc bag with tooth and NO MONEY? She looked at me with this puzzled look and I wanted to cry. I quickly came up with a story about how late we went to bed and the toothfairy must have already made her rounds in Choctaw. Stacia bought it….

The Toothfairy did redeem herself with a $5 dollar bill. Could life get anymore complicated?

Uh Im pretty sure that we are in a 3 way tie for Worst Tooth Fairies Ever!! Inevitably I am ALWAYS out of cash when the tooth fairy needs to make a deposit...and inevitably I shoot out of bed at 6am when I realize that in all the tooth pulling excitement I had forgotten to place the "borrowed" money under the pillow!!!
